On my bike ride today, I saw this imitation arch in someone's yard.
I think they were trying to imitate this place
<----,
but what they built reminds me more of Stonehenge. I suppose the cactus and red rocks around it help say what they are trying to say.
In people's yards I saw lots of red rock decor, several wagon wheels, farming equipment, mining equipment, and a covered wagon. In people's yards in New York, we saw lighthouses, anchors, boats, and sailors. I think it's interesting how people celebrate the culture and heritage of their local environment.
I saw this
<----
in somebody else's yard. I like the idea of turning a skateboard into a swing.
Police shoot alligator twice

Police in Independence, MO, quickly responded Saturday after a resident called and reported that his children had seen an alligator in the woods nearby.
The local conservation agent advised them to kill the gator if they thought it posed a danger to residents. Figuring the gator, lurking menacingly in the weeds near a pond where local children play, was a threat, police called for a marksman with a high powered rifle.
Sighting carefully, the policeman shot the beast in the head, as instructed. It wasn't until a second rifle shot bounced off the reptile's head that the officers realized they had mortally wounded a concrete lawn ornament.
Tom Gentry, police spokesman, said:
"It didn't move. They inched up closer and closer and discovered it was a mock-up of a real alligator made to look like it was real."
The property owner said the gator was meant to keep trespassers off his property.
Conservation agent Derek Cole pointed out that the department has received valid calls in the past about alligators set free in populated areas, so there was no reason to disbelieve Saturday's report.
In their defense, it was growing dark when police shot the gator, and it was partially submerged in the weeds.
Ha ha ha!
