I like the shadow of this sign at Wheeler Farm much better than the whited-over version. I'm sure somebody thought they were making it more readable-- so unnecessary on a beautiful sunny day.
I've seen other shadow signs like that-I think it is on purpose! Depending on the lighting, the shadow is bigger, slanted, easier to read, or less. Very cool. I am trying to imagine a huge solid expanse where an address shadow sign would work here at my house, or a welcoming phrase, or I think I need a special tool to carve through the wood or what other materials could I manipulate to do this... Thanks for great visuals! Must go to Giant park when we are in town next--too fun!
Those letters would be fun to make a rubbing of if you could ever get close to them. ;)
